Choose between finding an exit and lasting longer

Escape and survival share a sense of pressure, but they do not always share an objective. An escape game can ask you to locate a route, understand a scene or reach an exit. A survival game may instead ask you to keep moving while hazards continue. Read the individual objective before treating every failure as a missed doorway. This collection includes chase settings, hazardous courses and other games grouped around getting out of danger.

A useful first attempt identifies the information the scene gives you. Locate your character, the immediate hazard and any visible objective or counter. Then make one deliberate movement. Learning how an input affects position is more useful than running in several directions without understanding the camera. An opening check establishes only the actions described on the page; it does not guarantee that all exits, encounters or later stages have been explored.

Use a failed attempt to answer one question

In a route-based scene, remember a landmark near the point where your plan stopped working. On the next attempt, keep the earlier route consistent and reconsider that section. In a moving-hazard course, observe the timing before entering the dangerous space. The right approach depends on the actual game: a tactic for a chase should not automatically be applied to a bridge, a maze or a wave-avoidance game just because the character is familiar.

Check the theme as well as the mechanics. Some escape games use darkness, pursuit or frightening imagery. The site's intended audience is fourteen and older, but that statement is not a rating for every game. Choose another category if the visible theme is not comfortable for you.

Before restarting the player

A run-ending screen is different from a stalled provider screen. Use an in-game Retry for a failed attempt where one is available, and use the loading guide for a player that never reaches the game. Read the dated device note before switching to a phone; desktop movement does not establish touch support. The selection guide can help you choose a slower puzzle when route pressure is not what you want.
